Haunted Bodies: illness, pain and gothic fiction workshops

Join Ache this autumn for our new reading & writing workshop series exploring illness, the body and gothic fiction through a feminist lens. Meeting fortnightly for six sessions, we will read and discuss set texts, write creatively and share our work. Open to self-identifying women, trans and non-binary writers, these workshops will offer a slow-paced, creative and supportive community.

Texts we will be reading and discussing short extracts from include:

Caesaria by Hanna Nordenhök (Translated by Saskia Vogel)

The Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana Enriquez (Translated by Megan McDowell)

Cost: £120 (£20 per session)

Please note: we have allocated three half-price tickets for writers on low income - email to request. These will be allocated on a first come basis. Currently Ache receives no external funding, in the future we hope to offer more subsidised workshop places, thank you for your understanding. Workshop Leader:

Kirstie Millar is a writer and the founding editor of Ache. She completed her MA in Creative Writing at UEA and was a recipient of the Ink, Sweat and Tears Scholarship. Her gothic poetry book The Strange Egg was published by The Emma Press and won the Michael Marks Award for Illustration.
